#Let me tell you, my health has been horrid for some time now. So here is my post from the baggy (ostomy care) folder, it should sum things up pretty well:
Hey all~ I have a question about gettting a new ostomy after an ostomy reversal surgery. I had the reversal because the doc wanted to give it a try and see how I could deal with no bag. That reversal surgery was 8 months ago and right now I am in hell. I have been having some hints of a stomach bug as well (for the last couple of weeks), but I have been unhappy without the bag for the last 8 months. Things have gotten progressively worse as time has passed, instead of things getting better. I have had maybe a total of 6 hours sleep during the last 3 days. I cannot leave the house unless I don't eat anything until all my appts, ect. are done with and I can go back home. I am actually spending hours in the bathroom with the cramping, etc; to the point where I cannot leave the bathroom at all, seriously. I am not able to sleep bc I usually only have time for dinner after all my errands are done. Then I end up staying up all night with horrible cramps and spasms, passing all the available food in the tum, then just producing blood and small amounts of gutjuice. And I am so freaking tired, my body really really wants to sleep, but when the guts get ugly, I have no choice. I really want to call my gi surgeon on monday and discuss creating another ostomy, a permanant one. My question is this: Do I have a chance in hell of convincing this guy to do the surgery so soon after the reversal surgery? What is the timeframe for a new stoma? Other than crappy quality of life, what physical probs must be present for a doc to set you up with a permanant ostomy? Thanks for any info. Desperate for my life back!!!
