Suicide resources

We all know that there are a number of internet sites that may be less than helpful on the world wide web. For instance, if you were to google Pro suicide sites, you will find that there are many, many sites out there. And while I believe that individuals should make their own decisions regarding their lives, I am very concerned about these how-to suicide sites. From my own research, many of these sites cater to adolescents and young adults, and through peer pressure, tell kids that suicide is a viable option. Having been a teen myself, I know how crazy and sometimes uncontrollable teen life can seem. I know about having my heart broken by a high school sweetheart, not making a sports team, or failing an exam. However, I am not sure that message boards on how to kill one's self are the way to go. With mob mentality and propaganda, many young folks are making suicide pacts via the internet. Sadly, most of the parents of these teens generally have no idea how depressed and desperate their kids are until a suicide attempt. And many parents have checked their teen's computers and found evidence of such information after the fact. What is even worse is that many of the *pro-suicide* folks will lead you to believe that they really and truly want what is best for you. In fact, a number of people who give info on the how-to aspects of suicide are mentally unstable themselves or even criminals who prey on vulnerable people in order to fulfill their own unhealthy behaviors. What I want to do is just put it out there that this is NOT the way to go. I want anyone who is considering or already involved in these pro-suicide message boards to stop for just one moment. I know life can truly suck sometimes, but there are other ways to deal with your issues. Instead of making a permanent decision for a short-term problem, please get help first. Real help.
