Very good idea for a very good cause for paws. (Yeah, I totally just made that up, good, eh? ;)
Share the love
The typical Valentine's Day usually includes dinner, sentimental cards, and flowers. But as a pet lover, you may have your own traditions that include the furry little love of your life. According to a national Purina PetLover survey of 1,000 U.S. pet owners, more than 60% plan to include their dog or cat in their Valentine’s Day celebration. In fact, 43% of men said they prefer to spend the holiday with just their pet, explaining that their four-legged pal lowers their stress. And, of the women who said they prefer celebrating Valentine’s Day with their companion animal, 30% said it's because their pet is more in tune with their feelings than anyone else.
So Valentine’s Day is no longer a day to celebrate with just our human loved ones — it's about our pets, too. And Purina is jumping in with all four paws to help you and your pet celebrate Valentine’s Day – starting with the all-important card.
Petcentric’s popular DOGGIE-MAIL and KITTIE-MAIL have gone all hearts with special Valentine e-greetings from your own pet to whomever your pet loves! You can upload a photo of your dog or cat and have him or her speak in your own voice! Or if you're shy, or don’t want to upload, you can choose from a gallery of six talking dogs or cats, and a variety of cute phrases, backgrounds, and props.
And, because all dogs and cats need love, for every DOGGIE-MAIL and KITTIE-MAIL you send between February 1 and Valentine’s Day 2008, Purina will donate $0.50 to help care for homeless pets in shelters across the country. You could spread your love to dogs and cats everywhere! Want to try it now? Create your own DOGGIE-MAIL or KITTIE-MAIL fun in the Petropolitan! Purina has a goal of finding loving homes for at least 100,000 shelter pets in February. So, if you’re looking to add a little more love to your life, or know someone who is, there are plenty of wonderful dogs and cats who are waiting to find their perfect match. If you’re 60 or over, you can even adopt through the Pets for Seniors program, and all or most of your adoption fees are reimbursed by Purina! Just visit www.purinapetlover.com to see a list of adoptable pets that would love to be a part of your family.
And what’s Valentine’s Day without special treats? We’ve learned that 53% of pet owners plan to give their pet a special meal and treat to show their affection on Valentine’s Day. Purina wants to help with that too. Check your local newspaper on February 10 for Purina PetLover coupon savings of up to $12 on Purina dog and cat treats and food.
Pets bring a lot of love to our lives, and this is a great time to give some back to our own pets, as well as pets in need. So send those DOGGIE-MAILs and KITTIE-MAILs starting on February 1 and have a very happy Valentine’s Day!
