I HAVE THE POWER...Of FREECYCLE

Well, I have discovered what causes people to put up their misc. items on freecycle. I believe there are three main causes. A. They actually want to save the planet and reduce, reuse, and recycle. B. They just want to get rid of junk and are too lazy to take it to a thrift store. C. AND THIS IS THE BIG ONE~ They thrive on the power of deciding who will receive which precious item they have to give away. Be it a small can of peas or a car, I believe these three major causes, cover 99% of the freecycle population. Now this in no way diminishes the positive attributes of freecycle.org. I too, love to give and receive items using this forum. However, this weekend, I began cleaning and put up about 10 different items on freecycle, from an American flag on a wooden pole to candle accessories. Now, just moments after posting this on the site, my mailbox was bombarded with emails. These emails were directed straight at my ego, with various pleas to pick each individual for some special circumstance. Then, I was to pick the very best recipient for each item and contact that person with the "golden ticket" letter, stating their humble request had been granted. I wave my magic freecycle wand and poof! My ego is stroked, and my belongings find new homes.
Interesting, don't you think??? Could this be the answer to all the power-hungry folks out there starting fistfights, participating in gangs, and committing felonies that merely need an ego-stroking? Think about it. This could be the answer to so many of the world's problems. Just my two cents worth. Enjoy it.
