Change that...

Okay, maybe the whole "selling my soul" thing was a bit dramatic, however, I did sell the physical representations of having a child in my life. And I made a tidy little sum. Sixty-five dollars! Now having my dreams crushed was painful, but now that all of the nursery stuff is out of the house (well all the big things at least), and my pocket is a little bit fuller, I am feeling better and better about this situation. Glenn took the crib, toddler bed, 2 strollers, a high chair, a baby bath, and a changing pad to a 2nd hand kid's store (plus the 2 car seats from yesterday) and got a little bit of dough (and the knowledge that needy children will get those items), not bad at all. Now we did offer to bring all of our collected items in to DSS for other foster children to use. But, the DSS Donation Closet only has enough room for clothes so that is why we went ahead and got rid of all the other things. I will have Monday to finish packing up all the clothes and we are planning to stop by DSS on Tuesday to get our Mapp Certificates from our SW, and turn in the donations. All that is left now is about 4 trash bags full of clothes and a couple of little toys. I did put aside a few baby outfits that Glenn bought (all on his own) as a surprise to me one day. Looking at those 4 or 5 outfits makes me feel grateful and happy that I have such a thoughtful hubby, not sad about missing a child. And I am also keeping my copy of the Pokey Little Puppy because it is a great book and I will read it to one child, one day. Other than that, eveything is taken care of. And with out extra moolah, we had an Independance Celebration, just for us. First, we went to Joe's Crab Shack and had a really nice lunch. Then we went to the dollar store, misc. items, followed by Michaels, for some craft supplies, and of course, petsmart, to pick up a bag of treats for elly belly. And we also went to two libraries to get some extra weekend movies and some new books to read. A lovely early evening date; on the cusp of old folks, yes, but not quite there. And by the time we got home, we were ready to veg out with our movies until SNL comes on. Pretty darn good day if you ask me!!! And on a completely random note, I highly recommend St Ives 24 Hour Moistiure Lotion for Xta Dry Skin, as a very calming face lotion. I have supersensitive skin and everything irritates it (plus the meds I take make it more sensitive), BUT I picked up a 2 oz tube of this stuff at the DOLLAR store some time ago, and have been using it successfully on my face!!! So now it is time for me to break down and purchase the full gigantic size bottle for 2 or 3 bucks with my independance dough. YEAH!!! Good stuff all around, all around baby!!!!
