Well, after a mere two years, it seems that Elly Belly has finally wrapped her head around the whole "I am a dog" concept. Only in the last few days has she begun to identify herself as a dog. She started by running around the front yard while I was repotting some plants. Then she grabbed an (hold on to your socks folks!) actual stick and found delight in chewing it!!! She continued her dog-like behavior by sitting on the porch today, as she always does. But when the same mailman that we have had for the majority of the last two years attempted to enter our yard, she barked as though she was being beaten with a stick. Some of our mail was torn due to his (understandable) surprise and shock as being recognized as an enemy of OUR dog. Man! It has really been a period of growth for our little Elly Belly. Ahhhhhh! Don't they grow up so fast? Now, if she could grasp the concept of rain in the front yard = rain in the back yard, we would have a puppy genius! Have a great day for all the peoples and the puppies in your life.
