A Day with Crohn's Disease

Because this is my blog thus written about me or anything I deem interesting, I am doing another "day in the life of" biographical posts that I sometimes enjoy. I like to do it a. because it really is all about me ;) and b. I am always looking to make new contacts regarding C.D.
Yesterday, after a simple meal of sloppy joes around 4ish, I started the dance to and fro the bathroom. After many trips to and fro, I found myself weak and feeling generally blah. Because I have skin issues due to the draining fistulas and excessive bathroom time, I now feel like my skin has been bathed in acid all day/night. BUT, I took a bunch of anti-diarrhea meds to help slow things down, and eventually they worked. THANKS BE TO JESUS! As the meds are based on opioid receptors in the gut, they often have a side effect of sleepiness. So I went to sleep on the couch for a while ( I do this during the bad times because I don't want to wake up Glenn a billion times a night). Then at 1ish A.M. , I started to feel the grumbling in the stomach, the very deep gurgle that accompanies major episodes of bowel activity, and I was up. And down. And up again. Finally, at 3 A.M., my stomach just brought on the pain, and stopped dillydallying around. Might as well go full speed if you are going to try at all, that's what my old C.D. dictates. After waking up the hubby, putting on coffee, and fixing him a lunch, while making pit stops, of course, I upped the meds, taking a full 4 immodium, as well as 3 lomotal. Hubby (keeping in mind his significant hearing loss) lovingly informed me that my stomach sounded like two monkeys having sexual relations in my intestines. God, he makes me feel so very special. NOT! Around 6:30, as I was still a slave to my ileum, among other parts of my guts, I took an additional 3 bentyl. It is &:15 now, and I am still having stomach issues. So now I feel sick, grumpy and not at all pleased by Glenn's stupid comment. Conclusion ~ Don't mess with Beth, she doesn't feel good!!!

Well I love monkeys, and if monkeys love monkey love in your gut, the more power to you.
