It is officially the day after Christmas, and I have to say it was a pretty nice holiday this year. Of course it zoomed by at the speed of light, but overall we had a darn-good time. Due to a multitude of job issues and medical stuff going on, we celebrated it over this past weekend, but since Christmas is really about family, friends, and love, it still counts. :)
Hubby had to work Monday and will be working tomorrow as well. And as I have another Hidradenitis Suppurativa cyst toward the lower part of my abdomen. I will have surgery tomorrow to remove this patch of affected cells. Not a huge gigantic deal or anything, but it feels like someone has placed a quarter-sized lump of concrete just under my skin. This particular area has gone up and down a number of times in the last 3 years, so I am ready for it to go, though I am a tiny bit nervous about it. All surgery pretty much sucks from my experiences, even though this one is mild, considering my Crohn's stuff. AND as an additional insult, I actually had this particular lump in early Sept. when I had two other areas of skin cells removed. However, the surgeon chose not to remove it then because he somehow hoped it would go away with some fairy dust or something. It did not. Now I have a new surgeon and I am praying for a kick-butt anesthesiologist. Waking up when Docs are cutting on you is not a fun time. Trust me on this one.
I don't have to be at the hospital until noon, but since it is way past midnight here, I can't drink or eat anything until I get out of recovery. Feeling thirsty is one of the things that make me feel the most blah. Hate it. But hopefully, I'll get a gracious plenty of drugs along with a shot of phenergan in my IV, so I won't puke or feel too terrible afterwards. Dang I am sooooooooo thirsty now. Oh well. For now I will continue to stay up and be anxious about all the what ifs? Let's hope there is something funny on the tele to watch. Happy thoughts folks, happy thoughts.
And please feel free to contact me if you have/had similar dealings with Hidradenitis Suppurativa. I'd especially love to chat with others who have endured long term disease activity. *Keep On Keepin' On* Beth
